Harold Naideau - photographer, artist, and educator based in New York.
Harold Naideau’s fashion and beauty photography has appeared in the world’s top fashion publications including VOGUE, TOWN & COUNTRY, MARIE CLAIRE, and The New York Times Sunday Magazine. His fine art photography has been published in ARTFORUM and STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY magazines.
Naideau is also an accomplished portraiture photographer who has photographed: David Bowie, Andy Warhol, Catherine Deneuve, Gina Davis, Robin Williams and Kiss, the Mayors of New York, as well as the citizens and inhabitants of the boroughs of New York.
Naideau blends the traditional qualities of fine art photography with the state-of-the-art technologies and techniques of digital imaging utilizing a changing array of modern materials and processes.
Naideau’s vision spans from the works of the Great Masters to his discerning attempts to clarify a complex world, filled with disparate and conflicting imagery set amidst a changing, modern landscape that includes images from the parched plains of Death Valley in Nevada to the auto-parts dealers and body shops of Jerome Avenue in the Bronx. He is currently in negotiations to have his book on graffiti, “Women on the Wall”, published for release in the winter of 2011.
He regularly lectures at several New York Colleges and Universities on Art History and Fine Photography and is President of the Long Island chapter of A.S.M.P. (American Society of Media Photographers).
Naideau says “Every one of my successful images has a history contained
within it that may not ever become apparent. We live in a world surrounded
by millions upon millions of images and they become a part of our subconscious.
They wake up with us as soon as we open our eyes every morning. My camera
captures the movements and moments within the frame, in front of me. My
perspective is dictated by the moment and no decisions are really deliberate.
Everything has been pre-determined within our subconscious mind. We struggle
to control what we show to others and are constantly aware of the power
and effect of this very powerful medium-photography.”
Harold Naideau's work is represented by The Chase Edwards Gallery in Oyster Bay, New York and his commercial work is represented
worldwide by CORBIS / NYC.
